Caim is a top-down action-adventure game for the C64. It balances action, exploration and puzzles with an emphasis on the narrative.

You, an unnamed player, wake up in a strange place without any recollection of how you got there. Explore the facility, avoid deadly hazards and uncover mysteries. As you learn more about the place, the world and yourself, you get ever closer to putting together all the clues and reaching the exit.

The music tracks are by unknown composers from HVSC. The story was inspired by The Talos Principle. Use joystick in port 2 to play.

Features:

  • 30 rooms to explore
  • Three difficulty settings
  • In-game map
  • In-game achievements
  • Compatible with PAL (recommended) and NTSC

Good luck with the trials of Project Caim!

Felicidades Haplo!

I've already written it under the ratings, but here it is to read again to be on the safe side:

Rarely has an action adventure of this kind on the C64 captivated me so much, not least because of the very fair level of difficulty. Graphics & sound are quite simple, but the story, the logical little puzzles and the hints always given by the game captivate you up to the last second. There are also enough energy refill stations so that you never lose interest in it. The idea and implementation of the Automap is very exemplary and helpful. I would wish something like that for many other games on the C64, in which you sometimes look dead and stupid. Here is a small suggestion for improvement: Locked doors could also be marked as such with a corresponding color depending on the security level. The idea of achievements (order of solved puzzles, number of notes found, playing time, etc.) also increases replay value. On the other hand, the fact that the character can only move diagonally or vertically, but not in both directions at the same time, is a bit confusing. It's also a shame that the season was so short. Perhaps some ideas could be implemented here for potential successors without cutting back on the great features of the game. This game is definitely an insider tip and should be played by every C64 owner. 😎👍

Very nice and captivating game, not least because of the very fair level of difficulty. 👍 The idea and implementation of the Automap is very exemplary. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 00:49:51 and there is also a longplay starting at 04:13:32. Automatic subtitles should be available soon (switch on, if necessary). Subscription to our YouTube or Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

Funny that the current background image of this site shows the full game map.

Excellent game! It has everything you need to keep you entertained. Congratulations !!! 🤩👍

I had great fun with this game today :) Now, let's see if I can beat it on Hard...

(+2)

Beating it on hard is not that difficult. Beating it on hard with no healing is a challenge, beating it on hard with no healing and under 11 minutes is a real challenge.

Really interesting game and well executed! Definitely compelled to play further :-)

looks nice, and the music sounds great!

Very decent arcade adventure game. A clever concept and very challenging. If it was launched back in the mid-late1980s, it might have become a budget £2.99 game title. Well done.

very good

Really cool game. Nice puzzles. I like it!

Another good game from Haplo. I have to say it is really hard in some rooms which are really deadly. Worth the $3. Instant buy :)

Also, I appreciate achievements but finishing the game without dying? Will be hard to get it.

It will be on my top 10 list for C64 games of 2023.

Thanks. Finishing the game without dying is not that difficult, finishing it with no dying and no healing is.

You have to known every single trap and room by heart to finish it without dying once. My best score? 4 notes on 8, which is not that bad :)

Here's a video of a perfect play-through:

Thanks. Just watched it. I'm speechless! And the longplay could have about 30 seconds shorter or so... Wow!

Really nice! I made an uncut video of the full game today.

A full longplay? So soon... Wow.
