A downloadable game

Imagine a first-person RPG shooter, but top-down...and you get Warlock.

Note, this is not a rogue-like game. The maps are handcrafted (not procedurally-generated), and there is no "permadeath". It is like playing Heretic but from above.

This is a early preview release that includes the first 6 levels, and may contain bugs.

Everything is work in progress, including the (graphics, gameplay, etc.). The final game will have more levels, weapons, monster types, animations, music, sound effects and gameplay elements.

My first thought was: another roguelike game. But when I saw the levels are always the same, I changed my mind. For a first preview, it is interesting even if bats are a PITA!

Can't wait to play the final version!

Exactly, it is not a rogue-like game. As for the bats, don't rush at them; wait for them to come to you.

Looks promising :) Thanks for the preview!

Thanks for the preview, was FUN to play it. First blind play, so everything thats happend in the video, is "first time/first discovery" :-).

Dude, when you die you get a garbage sprite. I would advise to not ask money for this. And certainly not 5 euros, that's just not on.

Thanks for the bug report. I will try to reproduce it. This is a preview version, bugs are expected. Would you mind sending me a screenshot of that garbage sprite, to  haplotenebra AT gmail? It will help me find the root cause. Thanks.

And thanks for playing. The game is free (like all my other retro games). People can make a donation if they want to. You're welcome to download and play it for free of course. There is no obligation to donate.

I'll try to recreate the sprite and send you the image.
I know it's kind of a trend nowadays to ask for donations. But personally, for an unfinished product, I feel it's a little off-putting, even to be asking for it.
Regardless, I really like this game! And I will definitely buy it once it's done.

A neat idea! I'm going to have a look although I would not consider paying for an unfinished game.
