Tenebra is an atmospheric adventure puzzle game with rogue-like aesthetics. Guide the hapless protagonist to the exit. Poor guy is afraid of darkness and refuses to walk in the dark areas.

Move torches around, push lights on rails, find keys to doors, light up cold braziers, pass through archways that collapse behind you, find oil barrels to make your torches brighter, squeeze through cracks in broken walls, fix broken rails with a hammer, illuminate the sensors to open the exits... do whatever it takes to get out of there!

The free demo version contains the first 8 of the 31 levels.

Tenebra is also available on many other platforms; check here, here and here.

It can also be downloaded from the official Playdate Catalogue.

I think there is a bug in the playdate version of the game. I cannot use the code to jump to a level

I am not aware of any problems with the code entry. Please email me at haplotenebra (at) gmail.

Hi there, sorry my mistake. I exited the game without taking note of the level cheat codes. When I looked them up online they seemed to be wrong or for a different version of the game making me think that there was a bug in my version

No worries. Yes, each platform has its own set of codes.

I just finished all 31 levels today took about two days worth and I had a really great time thanks. Can we expect the sequel as well to be released for this?

I'm glad you liked it! And yes, I've already started on porting the sequel to Playdate.

If you want to play it in playdate simulator, set the screen zoom x2. Screen is too little otherwise.

Just finished it, the zoom x2 is really needed.

Is there anyway to set the screen to x2 on an actual playdate? Pixel art is too small for my eyes.

Unfortunately no. The levels on all none-PC ports are 256x160. Scaling them to x2 won't fit on Playdate's 400x240.

Tenebra 2 uses a much bigger portion of the screen, if you want to give it a go.

Will this game be on the play.date sight eventually? would like to buy it there just to keep all my playdate stuff in one place

Yes, I have submitted it for the catalogue, but it looks like the process will take a while.

Nice, thank you! :) I will be looking to buy it when I can!
