The Machinations - First preview
After publishing Tenebra for the Commodore 64 and porting it to the Commodore Plus/4, 2021 came to an end. And with a new year came a new concept for another game for the C64.
I had been pondering about the different types of games within the puzzle genre. Between Toop (my first game) and Tenebra I didn't work on any other puzzle-based ideas, but there are so many different of puzzle styles that each one of these feel entirely different. What about making a Rube Goldberg puzzle? Or an engineering-like puzzle?
I suddenly recalled the excellent [The Sequence] by One Man Band, which I had played on my phone quite a few years back. With the original developer's permission to adapt his concept and levels to the C64 another project was born!
If you would like to know more about the name of the game, or about the challenges and breakthroughs made until now I might share them on the next installment of this devlog. Stay tuned...
As awesome as the SID chip is, choosing the right tune is always a tough challenge, as I am not really a musician. I count myself lucky to have Barry Leitch's permission to use the tune from Marauder to go with this game.
Today I have released a preview with the first 10 levels and the first 2 modules (types of movement/action allowed in a level). Head to the Download Now button to grab the the .prg with the full preview, which can be played on any PAL Commodore 64 (real or emulated).
For an insight on the full game (and its argument and game play) don't forget to read the manual, also included in the download.
Here is a short video tutorial to for a quick start.
Hope you enjoy these first 10 levels, and look forward to your comments and support.
